Amorphophallus titanum, Corpse Flower, Corpse Plant

The famous corpse flower is renown for having the largest inflorescence in the world. It blooms over a few days and produces a stench like carrion in order to attract its pollinators. We have found Amorphophallus titanum to be easy growers in our warm greenhouse. We grow it in a mix of equal parts peat, perlite/pumice and orchid bark and use 1/2 strength osmocote plus applied in the soil every 6 months. We make sure it's always above 60 degrees with high humidity. They die down to their corms periodically and will rest for a few months before putting out new stems. Cephalotus follicularis

Cephalotus is native to Western Australia where it grows along the seashores on the coast in mediterranean-like climates. It is totally unique amongst carnivores and the genus is monotypic. It develops 2 types of leaves, one carnivorous and the other foliar. The carnivorous leaves are mocassin-like and can be very colorful when grown with strong lighting. Generally, we’ve found Cephalotus to prefer to be kept wet but not waterlogged with water very low in salts (<100ppm). Though the plants certainly appreciate high humidity (>60%), they do not like their leaves remaining constantly wet. More sun exposure produces smaller, but more colorful pitchers whereas larger pitchers to are produced in shadier conditions. They really seem to thrive under artificial lights such as fluorescents and LEDs. We’ve found Cephalotus best grown with day temps between 65-85 degrees and a night time temperature drop (45-60). They are tolerant of warmer temperatures for a few weeks but temps over 100 should be avoided. They should be kept above freezing. Colder temperatures and a shorter photoperiod in winter will give the plant its required rest period. Sizing Small sized plants have juvenile pitcher. Medium sized plants will have adult leaves and pitchers and will be sized for a 3-4" pot. Large size will have multiple growth points. This product is considered a Highland Tropical. Nepenthes hamata, BE-3380

Nepenthes hamata is renown for having the most fearsome teeth of any Nepenthes species. It is a highland plant requiring warm days and cool nights with good light and humidity. I have found the Nepenthes hamata clones from Lumut to be the most robust growers of all hamata available in cultivation. In particular, this clone and the one from Malesiana Tropicals are the most vigorous growing. The plants have been greenhouse hardened and are much more tolerant of swings in temperature and humidity than plants grown under softer conditions or those freshly out of tissue culture. All photos are of the exact clone for sale. BE-3715 is the exact clone as BE-3380 except produced from cuttings. Please note that hamata is notorious for growing larger pitchers than leaves when young so the sizing guide will not accurately reflect in this listing, however, the pictures are accurate to the size of the plant you will receive.
