Why Do We Use Whole Foods to Supplement Your Dog or Cat? Whole foods are recognized by the body as nutrients making them easily metabolized. Isolated synthetic nutrients, on the other hand, are treated by the body more like medications. This means the body has a harder time utilizing them and the liver and kidneys have to work harder to "detoxify" the body and eliminate excesses.
