Get a full tong - 7 x 50g cakes! It’s a tea collection in a tong! Jesse Says: Our first ever collab with Sister Ai was on her Master Box, and while I loved that product, I didn’t like that it meant people had to drop over a hundred dollars to try several types of tea from her mountain. These mini-tongs are my solution to making this truly excellent tea accessible, and in a way that is both engaging and traditional! I hope our subscribers appreciate the energy that we put into making such a unique item. For subscribers, to make sure you get as much tea as possible, I’m even including an extra bag of four tea coins so you can have multiple sessions of the newest teas. Drink them one at a time, or have a many-tea sampling party with friends! The tong is yours! Tea #8: Taiwanese Golden Pearl Oolong (Light Roast)1 x 75g tin (10-15 Sessions) Taiwan is best known for oolong tea, which grows in the high mountains and mountain valleys all throughout the central, mountainous regions in the center of the island. This light roast golden pearl oolong is made just for Jesse’s Teahouse, based on customer feedback on how people have liked our clean and fragrant oolongs, as well as our roasted Dongding oolong. THE TEA This tea is made with Golden Pearl oolong leaves, a new experimental varietal of Taiwanese oolongs, developed independently by our tea farmer partner in Taiwan. The flavor is clean and fragrant, but with caramel and roasty, nutty notes that come out during the roast process. This tea is roasted three times, each over low heat, and with several days’ rest time between batches. This reduces the burned notes that can accompany tea that is dried too fast, and also means the leaves recover from the heat and have a nice, plump, full presentation. The result is a nice combination of easy-drinking, fragrant oolong that has just a pinch of the smoky, roasty flavor that will appeal to tea fans and coffee lovers alike. Taiwanese Tea Mountain Heaven What are "Clean and Fragrant Type Oolongs"? Golden Pearl is a "Qing Xiang Xing" or "Clean and Fragrant Type" oolong. It releases a floral, fresh scent, and is a tea where the fragrance of the tea is one of the highlights of the whole experience. Oolong teas are partially oxidized, which means they lie between "unoxidized" green teas and "fully oxidized" red teas. This tea is closer to the unoxidized side, though it has deeper flavor notes from the roasting process. As such, this type of tea tends to have a lighter, "sweet water" flavor, matched with some green freshness similar to a green tea, but with still more depth of flavor than a green. The sweet aftertaste is a sign of good tea quality. Jesse Says: During the first salvo of the most recent trade war, I reached out to our Taiwanese tea team to see what options we might have if the worst happened and we were cut off completely from Chinese teas. I didn’t want to HAVE to buy Taiwanese tea because of trade issues, and it was important that if we expanded our Taiwanese tea line, it had to be because we found really good teas, and also teas that stand out from the rest of our existing Taiwanese selections. Jayme, our third-gen tea gal in Taiwan, reached out to her family to see what innovations are going on in Taiwan and identified this Golden Pearl varietal as being a good candidate. We bought the tea during the spring harvest, and vacuum sealed it to keep it fresh, and since the chaos of the trade war left us with no slot in our August tea box, this one got bumped to November. I am very excited to be able to share it with you all! OUR TEA PEOPLE We will be working directly with Jayme and Uncle Liu, a third-generation tea family with farms in Dong Ding and Qilai Mountain! Jayme and I at her family's tea farm on Dong Ding Shan. Jayme's family's teas are featured in Michelin Star restaurants across Europe. P.S it comes with a Bag Sealer :D Jesse's Tea Club By The Numbers: 3 Teas per box (though this time, it's eight, kind of!)20-30 Tea Sessions per Box4 Boxes per year1 Zodiac-themed Tea Pet per box (optional)1 Zodiac-themed Tea Cup per box (optional)FREE Members-only tea events on DiscordNO long-term commitment (cancel whenever) THIS SEASON'S TEA PET Ox Tea Pet(Collaboration with Tea Pet Competition Winner: Melanie Luchtenveld) The winner of our Tea Pet Competition! OUR WINNER: Melanie’s Ox! All tea pets crave tea, and this super cute Ox is always looking up, waiting for his next teatime! This tea pet was designed by Melanie Luchtenveld, who is the winner of our tea pet competition. We sent the original to China, where our team designed a mold that we used to make the version on our shop. This earned her the top prize: $200 cash, 20 tea pets, an Ox tea cup, and a portion of all sales of items with her work on them. What Are Tea Pets? Tea pets are part of the Chinese Gongfu Tea tradition, going back 1000 years. They live on the tea table and bring luck and auspiciousness when water or tea is poured on them. Tea pets are a way to personalize your tea sessions. Pick the animals you feel a connection to!THIS SEASON'S TEA CUP Ox Tea Cup HE TWISTY JESSE SAYS: I hired an artist in China to paint this Ox for us in traditional Chinese painting style. My art direction? ā€œMake him thicc. Make him derpy.ā€ CALLIGRAPHY AND PUNS We hired a calligrapher to hand-write the phrase ā€œē‰›č½¬ä¹¾å¤ā€ NĆu ZhuĒŽn QiĆ”n KÅ«n, a phrase that means, ā€œTo turn things around.ā€ The original ā€œChengyuā€ phrase is ę‰č½¬ä¹¾å¤ - the first character ꉭ NĆu (To twist) has been replaced by 牛 NĆu (Ox) so we can play both a linguistic and visual pun with our twisting Ox art. After a chaotic 2025, I personally have been hoping that many things turn around, and while drinking from an ox cup with a pun on it might not be enough to turn things around by itself, it also totally might be enough to turn things around by itself. With a capacity of 80 ml, this Ox cup is a fantastic addition to our zodiac series and closes out the series in style. TEA CLUB FAQ: Can I get one box without subscribing? Yes, you can! This Was Funnier in China: An American Comedian's Cross-Cultural Journey

This Was Funnier in China: An American Comedian's Cross-Cultural Journey

Author: Appell, JesseBinding: hardcoverNumber Of Pages: 288Release Date: 10-02-2026Details: A heartfelt, one-of-a-kind memoir chronicling the hilarious, absurd, and thought-provoking experiences of an American pursuing comedy in China, learning first-hand how humor does and doesn’t translate—and whether laughter transcends borders. I marched onstage in a long robe beside my Shifu, under the curious eyes of a thousand Chinese comedy fans, armed only with a microphone and the goal to kill onstage or die trying. Over the speakers, the host shouted: ā€œWelcome to the stage: Master Ding Guangquan and his American disciple, Ai Jie Xi!ā€ When self-proclaimed American class clown Jesse Appell signed up to study Mandarin in high school, he never imagined that one day his name would be written into the traditional family tree of Chinese comedy. But when he first moves to Beijing to apprentice to the legendary Master Ding, a single show is all it takes for Jesse and his fellow comedy misfits to understand that book learning means bombing jokes. To truly get the big laughs, he realizes he needs to know everything, like how long the fuse is on a thirty-cent firework, what card games coal miners play over Chinese New Year, and why comedy writers in Shanghai sometimes sleep in heart-shaped beds. The result? Asking questions that might seem simple—if they weren’t being asked by an American caught in the breakneck whirlwind of a rising China. ā€œWhat do people here find funny?ā€ ā€œHow do you deal with hecklers?ā€ And, of course, the biggest one of all: ā€œCan I say that?ā€ From Jesse’s first forays into the traditional teahouse performance scene to being the only American cast member and writer on a Chinese version of Saturday Night Live, This Was Funnier in China captures an American's wide-eyed, enthusiastic experiences trying to build a world where we can all laugh together.EAN: 9781668087565Package Dimensions: 9.0 x 6.0 x 0.7 inchesLanguages: English

"One Thousand Li of Mountains and Rivers" Stone Tea Table

"One Thousand Li of Mountains and Rivers" Stone Tea Table

What is a tea tray? The centerpiece of the traditional Chinese Gongfu tea-making experience, a tea tray not only holds all your tea equipment, but also catches spill water and serves as a home for your tea pets. Beyond its direct use making tea, tea trays also create a welcoming atmosphere for guests, inviting one and all to sit around the tray, enjoy tea and each others' company, stimulating conversation and enhancing the tea experience. About This Tea Table This tea table is composed of a single-piece solid stone face imprinted with the calligraphy "Qian Li Jiang Shan åƒé‡Œę±Ÿå±±ā€œ - One Thousand Li of Mountains and Rivers - along with a full-length painted image of mountain, river and cloud scenery. The "Li" is a unit of measurement - about half a kilometer, or .3 miles. The inspiration for the art comes from the work "Qian Li Jiang Shang Tu" by the Chinese painter Wang Ximeng, from the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). This masterpiece was the only work of Master Wang's to endure through history and the vibrant colors create a unique tea experience. The channel surrounding the stone is made of heavy bamboo, providing a solid and dense frame without adding excess weight to the table. It is a good size for hosting groups of up to four. Jesse Says: When I was looking for unique tea tables, this one hit me immediately as being something I hadn't ever seen before. After some research, I discovered the inspiration for the art style, and decided it was a great fit for the shop. Beyond the art, this table is a really solid choice for people who want an elevated tea experience but don't have a ton of space. The table is compact and nicely heavy, and draws the eye from all angles. Tea Set and Tea Sampler Special Combos! This set can come with one (or both!) of two optional discount combos only available when purchasing a tea table! Tea Tray and Tea Set Combo: This fantastic set of blue-white porcelain has everything you need for a fantastic Gongfu tea experience. It includes a lidded cup and plate, a tea filter and filter-holder, and four teacups, all with a traditional Chinese landscape painting motif decorated with red highlights. It also includes a glass serving pitcher. Save $15 by bundling with this tea table - A GREAT DEAL! Jesse's Quality Guarantee! Two-Cup Travel Teapot Set

Two-Cup Travel Teapot Set

Two-Cup Travel Teapot Set This two-cup and teapot combo packs light for travel and looks beautiful on a desk at home or at work. The set features: One teapot, complete with lid and built-in filter; Two nicely-sized cups that fit snug on top and bottom of the pot; Carrying case for travel and storage; Circular wooden button-style handles; Small rectangular tea towel. When I worked in Beijing at the Nature Conservancy, I saw a lot of office workers would keep a cup-pot combo on hand so they could brew great tea without cluttering up their work space. Needless to say, I got one myself too. It’s a great fit for: Home-office tea-making; Picnic/travel tea-making; Tea friends with less space for storing tea equipment; Tea Party Size? This set is best for personal use or with one partner (1-2 people). Save on tea with this teapot! Purchase the pot and sampler combo from the drop-down menu above to save $5 on a tea sampler! Jesse’s Review: This cup-pot combo is straight-up a great way to make tea. It’s very practical and yet the results are still top-tier. If you don’t have the space, time, or energy for a full Gongfu-style tea set, this is for you. I keep one of these on my desk at home in case I need to really get work done and can’t do the whole tea ceremony, and I also have a second set just for traveling and taking to friends’ houses. One note - because this set doesn’t come with a pitcher, you need to be sure to only add as much water as you need to drink your next cup. Otherwise, you will be left with extra tea inside the pot which keeps over-steeping. Don’t Forget Your Tea Pets! It’s not gongfu tea time without a tea pet! Check out the tea pets and add one to your order! Jesse's Quality Guarantee! When I started this shop, I wanted to find a way to take care of tea friends in a way normal online shops wouldn't. That's why I will replace any defective items for free. Simply contact teafriendsupport@jessesteahouse.com if you have issues. I also highly recommend buying shipping insurance with your order - for a few dollars, we will cover any breakages, losses, and package theft 100%! I take care of my tea friends! Duidui's 2010 Reserve Aged Cooked Pu'er

Duidui's 2010 Reserve Aged Cooked Pu'er

Duidui's 2010 Reserve Aged Cooked Pu'er Ā  What is Shou (Cooked) Pu'er? Pu'er is the wine of teas, meticulously picked and aged with each tea mountain having its own personality. True Pu'er is only grown in Yunnan, China, right on the border of Myanmar in the heart of Southeast Asia. It is drunk throughout Asia for its fantastic flavor and health properties. Ā  Shou, or "cooked" pu'er has been put through process that involves piling the leaves and turning the pile repeatedly to rapidly increase oxidation and fermentation. The resulting tea is dark, complex, and known to calm the stomach and aid digestion. Ā  About This Tea Duidui's 2010 reserve is a real treat of a tea, combining the classic dark earthiness expected from a cooked pu'er with a velvety-smooth mouth feel and hints of jujube. Ā  Aged 13 years, this teaĀ has a bold, crisp fragrance and extremely dark tea color. The first steep of this shou looks like many other shous' second or third steep, and the middle steeps are almost pure dark black. However, shown in front of a light, the tea is indeed clear, not muddy, proving its high quality. Ā  Ā  Jesse Says: This June, my tea guy Duidui invited me on a van tour of Yunnan's best tea mountains. Along with some friends, we spent six days driving through windy mountain roadsĀ to visit some of the most famous tea havens in the world - Bingdao, Laobanzhang, Jingmai Shan. Ā  Duidui has been sourcing ancient tree tea for over 20 years, and has long relationships with the old-school farmers at these rare mountains.Ā He gifted me a cake of this 2010 Reserve shou, and immediately I was in love with the rich flavor and sweet aftertaste. Ā  Duidui generously agreed to give me this tea at a price I could include in the subscription. He told me that he hopes it will open a new market for excellent Pu'er around the world, so he can share even more of the tea he has been aging with others. Ā  VALUE AND QUALITY Ā  Want the best value? This tea comes in 100g and 357g (full cake) sizes - check the drop-down menu above! Ā  Jesse's Teahouse started because Jesse realized the quality and value of the tea directly from the Beijing Tea Market was so much higher than what could be easily found in the States -- and around the world. Ā  Jesse contacted his tea friends, they shipped their best teas to him, and he sends them to you. That's it! These teas are high quality and can be re-steeped multiple times!Ā Each servingĀ makes between 4-8 cups of tea, so at around $.50 a cup, you get top quality Chinese teas at a price that you can enjoy every day. Ā  NOT JUST TEA, TEA CULTURE Jesse believes the key to making good tea is to help his Chinese tea friends share not just their best teas, but the best ways to make the teas. That's why each box comes also comes with an infoĀ card that tells you: Tea Origin Steep Temperature Steep Time Directions for both teapot steeping and gaiwan steeping All Jesse’s Teahouse Tea Friends (that’s you now!) also get access to private YouTube videos where Jesse and his Chinese tea friends show you how to make the teas and explain the tea-making process.Ā  The links are on QR codes on the back of the info card included in the tea box. Duidui’s Mini-Kyusu Teapot

Duidui’s Mini-Kyusu Teapot Our Duidui's Teaware Series aims for: Simple, beautiful aesthetic; Easy usability and practicality; Excellent price-to-quality value. He ROUND and SMOL and MAKES GOOD TEA About This Teapot High quality hand-finished workmanship; Clean buttery-white high temperature porcelain; Large side handle for easy pouring; 100ml capacity best for 1-2 people; Internal filter; Smooth, laminar tea flow; Designed (and refined!) over a decade by my tea guy Duidui Dat Pour Tho Duidui's Teaware: Jesse's Story Duidui has been my tea guy since 2012 and is famous amongst followers of the channel for getting us some of the best teas on the shop. As a tea guy himself sourcing top-quality tea for over 20 years, it's not surprising he would also care a lot about his tea equipment. Duidui's teaware series includes three pots, two types of cups, and a fairness pitcher, all of which were designed over the course of a decade. Duidui works with artisans to design tea ware, do a production run, and re-approach the project when sold out to make improvements each time. His tea philosophy is baked into the whole series of pieces: Quality materials and workmanship; easy utility and no-fuss-teamaking over fancy gimmicks, and clean, simple aesthetic. Every time I visited him in China, I loved the tea ware he used, and I am glad to be able to host it on our teahouse website. These products are not available anywhere else outside of China! Is this a "Zisha" or "Purple Clay" pot? No, this teapot is made of porcelain, not purple clay. How to Choose a Teapot This pot can be a good choice for both new and experienced teapot collectors. Newer Collectors: A good teapot is a piece of functional art. When on display, they look amazing; when used, they should make good tea. While the type of teapot can effect the flavor of the tea, I personally think newer tea friends should not over-worry about maximizing specifics teas to specific pots, since it can get expensive and confusing quite quickly.Ā  Instead, focus on finding a pot that you think fits your normal tea-making practice, is a good size and shape, with a focus on quality workmanship instead of rare, expensive materials. This series is an excellent fit for those use cases. Intermediate/Experienced Collectors: Clay-interior pots, like the tall fisherman and round fisherman pots, are great for holding heat and brewing teas like pu'er, black teas, and aged teas, like aged white teas. They hold heat well and absorb tea energy through the pores of the pot, which makes them ideal as "dedicated teapots" for certain types of tea. Try using one as a "aged white only; raw pu'er only; shou pure only" type pot! Porcelain pots, like Duidui's mini-kyusu, are not porous and create a more standard brew for all types of tea. It is a good fit for individual or two-person tea sessions, especially for situations where you need to travel with a good, small, lightweight teapot. Bundle and Save! Save $10 off this teapot and another $10 off a 250g cake of Duidui's Sakura Cloud Sea Laobanzhang White Tea by buying this item as a combo! Go to the drop-down menu to select the teapot + tea cake option. Check out the entire Duidui's Teaware Series Collection for more great tea things!

While Jesse's Teahouse demonstrates commitment to sustainable packaging and fair trade sourcing for some products, there's room for improvement. They lack transparency in their complete supply chain and haven't published comprehensive environmental impact reports. Their direct trade relationships with some farmers are positive, but they haven't achieved organic certification for many products. Animal welfare policies are adequate but not industry-leading. Labor practices at packaging facilities need better documentation and third-party verification.
