Approximately 5/8" in length, medium dubia are a great choice for small or young reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, such as juvenile bearded dragons, leopard geckos, and veiled chameleons.  Our Medium 5/8" Dubias are about the length of an adult cricket, but heavier. To prevent potential choking, lizards should not be fed dubia larger than the space between their eyes. Dubia should always be lightly dusted with calcium powder prior to feeding. Nutrition Facts: Moisture — 65.6% Protein — 23.4% Fat — 7.2% Ash — 1.2% Fiber — 2.9% ----- We do all counts by a combination of both count and weight in grams since what really matters is the “weight” to feed your pet. Whether you have 90 bugs that weigh 9g or 110 bugs that weigh 9g, your pet will still get the same amount of food by weight. We always weigh heavy to insure over count for dead and undersized dubia. You may receive slightly more or less than you order depending on size. Example: If you order 50 dubia you could receive as little as 45 as a worst case scenario, but you could also receive as many as 60. In most cases, you will receive more. If your pet is favoring waxworms over other bugs, try not offering any for a week or two. Waxworms are the juvenile stage of the Greater Wax Moth (Galleria mellonella). These soft-bodied grubs make great treats for reptiles, amphibians, and birds alike!  Nutrition Facts: Moisture — 58.5% Protein — 14.1% Fat — 24.9% Ash — 0.6% Fiber — 3.4% How often can waxworms be offered? Waxworms are naturally high in fat, so they should only be offered as rare treats, never as a regular feeder. If you’re looking for a staple feeder, we recommend dubia roaches and NutriGrubs instead. Always dust waxworms lightly with calcium powder before offering, as they have a high phosphorus content. How to care for waxworms: Waxworms last up to two weeks at room temperature. However, to make them last up to 4 weeks, you can keep them cooler between 50-60 degrees. The best way to do this is with a wine cooler and low humidity.  Do not cool waxworms past 50°F. Remove any blackened dead worms and cocoons daily. If the bedding feels moist when they arrive, take the lid off for a while to let them dry out.
